From Thursday April 7th, the Chelsea class will be moving forward to the more convenient time of 7.30pm. We will still be located in the same venue, Chelsea Sports Centre on Chelsea Manor Street off the King’s Road, but are moving to the studio at the other end of the first floor. As you can see from the photos (ignore the table which has been removed), it’s a lovely space, newly decorated and with plenty of full-length mirrors.

Please note, there are still TWO MORE CLASSES in March at the old time of 8pm, in the old studio!

Tonight is the first edition of our new pop-up milonga, Shusheta. The evening begins as usual at 7.30pm with our one-hour General Level class. We will be recapping on last week’s rock steps, and looking at changes of direction and milonguero turns.

At 8.30pm, DJ Vincenzo “Amortango” will take over, playing a selection of traditional and modern tango music.

Drinks including wine, and hot & cold food will be available in Dance Attic Cafe until 10pm closing time.

This Tuesday we will be looking at “rebotes” otherwise known as rebound or rock steps, very important for directional changes and also to add dynamics to the dance. One example of a much used “rebote” is in the “ocho cortado” a beautiful step which features a syncopated variation of the figure of eight.

We will also continue to spend part of the class studying milonga figures and how to incorporate them into the music, whilst respecting the rhythm of this faster dance in the tango family.
